10 Most Beautiful Places in the World to Visit Number 5 Is Absolutely Stunning

The world is filled with beautiful things if you have the vision to explore them. There are so many beautiful places to visit around the globe that we can't possibly include them all in just one article. But, these beautiful places are certainly worth popping to the top of your list of places to visit whether you're looking to relax on the beach, get off the grid, or explore the area.

Bora-Bora

1. The American writer James Michener is one of the many visitors to Bora Bora in French Polynesia, the most beautiful island in the world. It's the inspiration for the island paradise in the South Pacific musical, based on Michener's novel. Bora Bora is the favorite haunt of celebrities to this day in the Leeward Region of the Society Islands.

Neuschwanstein Castle

2. There is no question of which castle Disney thought to be the most magical in the world; the company modeled the Sleeping Beauty castles in its theme parks. In the 1860s, "Mad King Ludwig" of Bavaria commissioned Neuschwanstein Castle. Like its theme park counterparts, it is a fantasy of towering white turrets and spires, built more for theater than any defensive purpose. But its coup de grâce is its stunning location in the middle of the Bavarian mountains near Füssen, where it often seems to float on clouds: a spot that Ludwig himself described as "the most beautiful one you could find, holy and unapproachable"

Antelope Canyon

3. Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. Its Navajo name translates to "the place where water flows through rocks"—an allusion to the creation of the canyon through erosion. The small, undulating spaces between the rock formations make for colorful patterns when the sun is passing through the striated stone.

Grand Canyon

4. Grand Canyon National Park has started its centennial celebration this year, and all signs point to 2019 as an exciting time to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Plan to hike some of the most scenic loops in the park-like Horseshoe Bend and the South Rim Trail-to get a glimpse of the rocky cliffs of the Painted Desert, the Navajo Nation, and even a waterfall or two.

Sagrada Familia

5. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is one of the most famous places of worship in the world – and one of the longest-running projects of modern times started in 1882 and finished in 2026, the 100th anniversary of the death of its founder Gaudi.

Maldives

6. The Maldives enjoy one of the most beautiful clusters of beaches anywhere, which is why they inevitably pop up in every poll and in the top ten. It's the perfect place to play castaway, with 1,200 mostly uninhabited islets of silk-soft coral sand, sparkling turquoise lagoons, and kaleidoscopic reefs. But with an average land level of just 1.5 meters above sea level, islands are particularly vulnerable to rising ocean levels – and the fear is that they will simply disappear in years to come.

Tea garden hill of Munnar

7. Kerala is the center of some of the most beautiful places to visit in the world. It's not only known for its backwaters and beaches but it's also known for Munnar, a town located in the southwestern part of Kerala. It is practically entirely covered with tea plantations, some of which are as high as 7000 feet above sea level. This beautiful southern city is a playful combination of beautiful mountains and lush green flatlands, making it the Assam of South India.

Taj Mahal

8. Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the world. Anyone who thinks that this otherworldly marble construction has overrated has never seen it. It seems almost to shine with life: its stone is of dazzling purity, its extraordinary craftsmanship, and its story is lovingly romantic.

Machu Picchu

9. Whereas the elegant stone ruins of Machu Picchu are the work of the Inca rulers of the 15th century, not Mother Nature, the natural setting of the site makes it so attractive. Perched above the flattened mountain peak, the ancient Wonder of the World benefits from the famous Huayna Picchu landscape, the lush green surfaces, and the Andean peaks barrier that, despite the fame of the landmark, makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a secret.

Great Barrier Reef

10. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef system in the world and unrivaled in sub-aquatic splendor. It stretches for an incredible 2,600 km off the coast of Queensland, Australia, and includes several thousand reefs and around 900 islands. The reef also supports thousands of species, from sea dragons to crocodiles, and is home to 125 species of sharks.
