Leadership Qualities That Makes You a Good Leader

                      According to Haimann, 'Leadership is the process by which an executive imaginatively directs, guides and influences the work of others in choosing and attaining specified goals by mediating between the individuals and the organization in such a manner that both will obtain maximum satisfaction. A leader guides other people. He interprets the objectives of the group and guides them towards their accomplishments. because he has others subordinate to him and subject to his command. The leader must give their efforts a direction and purpose. Every management needs a leader who can motivate the workers towards achieving more than their goals, every worker is on the lookout for a leader who can communicate effectively with the management on the behalf of the workers.



                      Leadership is an essential element of managing for influencing people to achieve mutually compatible goals. Basically, it is a psychological process of influencing followers or subordinates and providing guidance to them. It is always related to a situation which means a leader may be effective in one situation while ineffective in another. To be effective, a leader should change his leadership style depending upon the requirements of the situation. A good leader always listens to their workers, understand their situation and make a decision that is good for both organizations as well as for their worker. Leadership is the process of influencing the behavior and work of others in a group effort towards the realization of specified goals in a given situation.

  • He can motivate people and get them to work.
  • Good technical knowledge.
  • Ability to solve problems, analysis and make a judgment.
  • Keep calm in a tough situation, and can overcome it.
  • Self-confident.
  • Ability to use information and time.
  • The leader functions as an ideologist. By presentation of his ideas concerning the group, he is a source of beliefs about it.
  • The leader serves as an example, a role model for others to emulate.
  • He is responsible for seeing that the appropriate activities of the organization are carried out.
  • He acts as the administrator of rewards and punishment.

                      As it is very difficult to find 'born leaders' having all the required qualities and behavior expected in a successful leader, it is more practical and appropriate to train people to acquire leadership ability rather than searching for a born leader. but it is also true that no one can easily be a good leader. According to Barron and Greenberg, 'Leadership is a process whereby one individual influences other group members towards the attainment of defined group or organizational goals' Hence, we said that leadership that actually projects the importance of a two-way process between followers and leader. A process in which leaders and followers interact in a way that enables the leader to influence the action of followers in a non-coercive way towards the achievement of certain aims or objectives.
