Baby Girl Born From Record Setting 27 Year Old She Is Only A Few Months Younger Than Her Mother

A beautiful baby named Molly was born in the United States. Molly isn't an ordinary baby, she's 18 months younger than her mother. It seems impossible, but Miraculously, this isn't!

Molly was born from an embryo that had been frozen in October 1992—only 18 months after her mother, Tina, was born in April 1991.

According to researchers at the University of Tennessee Preston Medical Library, the girl enters history books as the longest-frozen embryo known to result in a live birth.

In October 1992, five "sister" embryos were created using sperm and eggs donated by an anonymous couple. A quarter of a century later, on 25 November 2017, Tina Gibson, gave birth to Emma, who was born from one of these embryos.

Molly's arrival on 26 October 2020 broke the previous record of her sister, Emma, who had spent 24 years on the ice before her arrival in November 2017. The embryos were frozen together and are full of genetic siblings.

Carol Sommerfelt, Director of the National Embryo Donation Centre, said "It was very rewarding for me to see an embryo frozen years ago as a result in the birth of a lovely baby," and "I feel honored to be part of the process."

The couple, Tina Gibson and her husband Benjamin have been married for 10 years, and first approached the NEDC in 2016 after months of searching for embryo adoption. Tina said her parents had first mentioned the idea to her. At first, Gibson brushed off the possibility because they were interested in traditional adoption.

After a few months of thinking about it, Tina said they were tired of mulling it over and decided to go ahead with the embryo adoption. Soon, the NEDC transferred to her the 24-year-old embryo that became Emma.

On the day of her first embryo transfer with Emma, Tina was surprised to hear that it had been frozen for 24 years.

Frozen embryos, colloquially known as "snow babies," may remain in a cryogenic freezer for many years before they are used.

According to the research staff at the University of Tennessee Preston Medical Library, "The longest-frozen embryo may have come to birth, setting a new record" The baby beats the previous record of her elder sister, Emma, who came to life on 25 November 2017 after being a frozen embryo for 24 years.

Tina told the New York Post: "It's hard to wrap your head around it, but as far as we're concerned, Molly is our little miracle."
